Alexia Bauer
Ashtanga Yoga Teacher
Passion: Yoga, health, nature.
"My every day goal is to live as healthy and aware as I can so I can share my experience with others that are looking to have the same way of life."
MEET ALEXIA
Alexia’s first encounter with yoga was a playful one. As a five-year-old she would walk around the house on her knees in lotus posture, mimicking the photos she found in a yoga book in her grandfather’s library. The book disappeared but the inspiration remained in the back of her mind. Seventeen years later, Alexia realized that she couldn’t deny her hunger to learn the practice of yoga: she left Guatemala, her home country, and moved to Chicago to start her teacher training.
Alexia’s greatest influence was Kino MacGregor, one of the few certified Ashtanga teachers in the country. Kino’s inspiration helped Alexia discover that her heart is in the Ashtanga yoga practice. Alexia practiced for six years under the guidance of Todd Boman, who supported her practice and taught her faith and dedication with his own shining example. She apprenticed with Todd in the mysore classes and learned how to teach the method.
In July 2012 Alexia went to Mysore, India for the first time and studied for six weeks under the guidance of Sharath Jois at the Jois Institute where Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga was first codified. In 2013 she got a 200-hour certification from Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor at the Yoga Workshop in Boulder, Colorado.
Alexia teaches, the mysore program at Yogaview, Chicago, corporate and private classes, and she volunteers and helps with the teacher training program at Salt & Light Coalition. She has found daily practice to be profoundly transformative, calming, and empowering. As a teacher, Alexia inspires students to persevere, with enthusiasm, and share in these benefits.

Morning Ritual
I meditate anywhere from 10-60 minutes (depending on my day) as soon as I open my eyes. I do Nauli Kriya and dry brushing, take a shower, take some supplements and I’m ready for my day. Sometimes I’ll do my yoga practice early in the morning, and sometimes later in the day, depending on my schedule.
Nutrition
I have an oat latte in the morning before anything, but I usually don’t eat until I practice, or at like noon, I like to have açaí or berry bowls with fruits, nuts, and hemp protein, or Oatmeal with nuts and fruits. To supplement I take Vitamins C & D, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Hyaluronic Acid, NMN, Collagen Hydrolysate, fish oil, and BCAA complex on the days I work out.
How do you feel taking TRIIBE's products?
I have been taking the “Recovery Trio” every day for the past few weeks. I can not only feel less sore after workouts, but I can also see a difference in data in my recovery index, resting heart rate and HRV which was surprising and exciting to see. The more I learn about the main ingredients in these supplements, the more I love them!
Favorite Book
Many… but if I have to say one that comes to mind at this moment I will say “Lifespan: Why we age and why we don’t have to” by David Sinclair.
Favorite Quote
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
– Theodore Roosevelt
If you could change something about the actual world, what would it be?
I’d get rid of humans! (Joking) (half joking) I’d have nature and the planet be the priority in everything we do.
Relationship with nature:
A very committed one! ;)
Mental approach to a hard situation during your practice:
Everything comes, arises, and passes away!
