How it works

  1. 1

    Take the survey

Answer a short set of health questions through TrueMed. It takes about a minute, and a licensed practitioner reviews your answers.

  2. 2

    Get your letter

If you qualify, you receive a Letter of Medical Necessity — the document your plan needs. It covers you for 12 months.

  3. 3

    Pay with HSA/FSA

Choose your HSA/FSA card at checkout and shop as normal. Keep the letter on file in case your plan administrator asks for it.

What you can buy

Every Tribe Organics supplement has been reviewed and qualifies. Here's where most people start.

One-time orders and subscriptions

ONE-TIME ORDER

Pay at checkout

Select your HSA/FSA card at checkout and pay with it directly. Nothing else to do.

If your balance runs short, the remainder goes to a backup card automatically — your order still goes through.

SUBSCRIPTION

Pay as usual, then reimburse

Subscriptions bill on a recurring schedule, which HSA/FSA cards can't process directly — so subscription orders are paid with your regular card.

You still get the benefit: use your Letter of Medical Necessity to reimburse yourself from your HSA/FSA account.

Questions, answered

What are HSA and FSA accounts?

They're accounts that let you set aside money from your paycheck before taxes to spend on qualified health expenses. A Health Savings Account (HSA) rolls over year to year. A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) usually has to be spent within the plan year. Because the money is pre-tax, spending it is effectively a discount equal to your tax rate.

Is this legitimate?

Yes. IRS rules allow supplements to be covered when a licensed practitioner determines they're medically necessary and documents it in a Letter of Medical Necessity. TrueMed handles that review and issues the letter. Thousands of brands use the same process.

Do I need to see my own doctor?

No. TrueMed's survey is reviewed by a licensed practitioner in their network. If you qualify, your letter is issued without a separate appointment.

Which Tribe Organics products qualify?

Our catalog has been reviewed and our supplements qualify. Gift cards are the exception — they can't be purchased with HSA/FSA funds.

What if I don't have enough in my account?

You can still complete your order. If your HSA/FSA balance doesn't cover the full amount, the remainder is charged to a backup card automatically.

Why can't I use my HSA/FSA card on a subscription?

Recurring billing can't be processed on HSA/FSA cards, so subscription orders are charged to your regular card. You still get the benefit — use your Letter of Medical Necessity to reimburse yourself from your HSA/FSA account for those orders.

How long does my letter last?

Twelve months from the date it's issued. Every eligible order you place during that window is covered by the same letter — you only take the survey once a year.

Do I need to send anything to my plan administrator?

Usually not at the time of purchase. Keep your Letter of Medical Necessity and your order receipt on file in case your administrator requests documentation later.

Don't let this year's funds expire

Most FSA balances are use-it-or-lose-it at the end of the plan year. Put them toward something you'll actually use.
